Industrial manufacturing using plaster molds
We are all familiar with the plates with pictures of cities that are hung on walls as decorations and souvenirs. The plates present an idealized picture of the city, rather than a realistic one.
In the world around us wars have caused much destruction,
and the sight of bombed-out buildings has become an integral part of the landscape.
After studying aerial pictures of war-torn cities, and with a desire put a question mark on conventional ideas of aesthetics,
I designed plates to give visual expression to this reality.
By the formation of 3-D geometric shapes, the decorative plates subtly express the skyline of a bombed-out city.
